How to use it

Ask about functional breathlessness. Walk pace vs. peers, stopping on flat, ADL limitation.
- 2
Grade 0–4. Grade ≥2 indicates significant impairment warranting active intervention.
- 3
Feeds into BODE and GOLD. GOLD: mMRC ≥2 OR CAT ≥10 = symptomatic patient requiring maintenance therapy.

- COPD assessment
- GOLD 2024 uses mMRC for symptom burden classification.
- Pulmonary rehabilitation referral
- mMRC ≥3: key indication for PR (NICE NG115).
- Disability assessment
- Used in occupational health and benefits assessments.
