Abstract
Introduction
Gingival recession often coexists with noncarious cervical lesions (NCCLs), complicating treatment outcomes. This study assesses the efficacy of modified coronally advanced flap (MCAF) and resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC), with or without amniotic membrane (AM), in enhancing root coverage and clinical results in gingival recession associated with NCCLs through a randomized trial.
Materials and methods
A total of 15 systemically healthy patients (≥18 years), irrespective of gender, presenting with Pini-Prato et al. Class B- or B+ surface defects associated with Miller's Class I or II gingival recession, were selected. Eligible sites included maxillary posterior teeth per quadrant. A split-mouth randomized clinical trial over 6 months compared MCAF + AM + RMGIC versus MCAF + RMGIC in NCCL-associated recession. Mean standard deviation for the clinical variables was calculated for each parameter. Paired t-test was used for intragroup comparison and independent t-test for intergroup comparisons.
