Comparison of Adductor Canal Block Combined with Ipack Block Versus Spank Block for Postoperative Analgesia After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Prospective Randomised Study
By Magna Mani, Pankaj Kumar Gupta and Kuldeep Raina.
Abstract
Aim
To compare the analgesic efficacy and safety of adductor canal block (ACB) combined with infiltration between the popliteal artery and capsule of the knee (IPACK) block versus ACB combined with sensory posterior articular nerves of the knee (SPANK) block following total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods
This prospective randomized study included 100 patients undergoing unilateral TKA. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups: Group 1 received ACB + IPACK block and Group 2 received ACB + SPANK block using 0.25% bupivacaine. The primary outcome in this study was time to first rescue analgesia. Secondary outcomes included postoperative Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores, rescue analgesic requirement, motor blockade, and adverse effects.
