Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide and may require mastectomy, potentially resulting in functional and lymphovascular complications. This integrative literature review aimed to investigate the effects of physiotherapeutic interventions on functional rehabilitation, the prevention of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, and the improvement of quality of life in women undergoing mastectomy. Seven articles were selected, indicating that different physiotherapeutic approaches, including circuit training, multimodal physiotherapy, telerehabilitation, kinesio taping, photobiomodulation, and cupping therapy, may improve range of motion, muscle strength, and functionality, as well as reduce pain. Early and systematic physiotherapy may help prevent or minimize complications such as scar adhesions, axillary web syndrome, and lymphedema. The analyzed studies suggest that physiotherapy may contribute to functional recovery and quality of life in women undergoing mastectomy. However, the findings should be interpreted with caution due to methodological differences and variations in the outcomes assessed. Therefore, physiotherapy represents an important strategy for post-mastectomy rehabilitation, taking into account each patient's individual needs.
