Abstract
Abstract Here we examine 2, 6-diacetylpyridine and their derivatives, including mono and bis–Schiff bases of 2, 6-pyridinecarboxylate, 2, 6-diacetylpyridine (dap), dimethyl pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate(MPC), pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (H2PDC), N,N’-bis[2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-N-(Pyridyl) benzyl amine]-2,6-diacetylidenepyridine and N,N’-bis[2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-N-(pyridyl)benzylamine]-1,2-phthaldialdimine, etc. and their metal chelate characterised by IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, single-crystal X-ray, Raman spectroscopy, elemental analysis, conductance measurements, and magnetic susceptibilities. In crystallographic molecular structure, bond distance, bond angle and molecular geometry was studied. Additionally they studied the antitumour activity against P388 lymphocytic leukemia, the antimicrobials activities in some cases the ligand has more active than the metal complexes, which exhibit no active against Candida albicans (yeast). However, in certain cases, metal complexes were revers. This diverse range of recently developed Schiff bases has versatility were observed and fascinating chemistry are learned.
