Qualidade de vida em idosos com incontinência urinária submetidos à fisioterapia pélvica: uma revisão integrativa de literatura
By Maria Eduarda Gonçalves Borges.
Abstract
Urinary incontinence (UI) is a highly prevalent condition among older adults, significantly impacting quality of life and emotional health. Aging predisposes individuals to physiological changes in the pelvic floor which, combined with hormonal factors, increase vulnerability, particularly in women, so it's crucial to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the management of UI in the elderly, focusing on functionality and emotional well-being.
Methods
An integrative literature review was conducted across PubMed, SciELO, and LILACS databases (2020–2024), using the descriptors "urinary incontinence," "physical therapy modalities," and "quality of life." Following the PRISMA protocol and the Whittemore & Knafl methodology, three randomized controlled trials were selected and methodologically appraised using the JBI tool.
