What is the current evidence base for the role of estrogen in psychosis, whether protective or causal?
By Tripdatabase.
Abstract
Estrogen appears to have a protective effect against psychosis relapse, particularly in post- and perimenopausal women, but the evidence is limited and requires further corroboration through diverse clinical trials. The role of estrogen in modulating psychotic disorders needs further investigation, particularly regarding its potential causal mechanisms.
