Abstract
ABSTRACT Skin health is influenced by several lifestyle-related factors, including sleep, dietary habits, physical activity, stress, screen time, hydration and personal care practices. The present cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted to assess lifestyle factors and their perceived and reported relationship with skin health among the study participants. A total of 126 responses were collected using a structured online questionnaire. The questionnaire included demographic characteristics, lifestyle-related factors, skin-health characteristics, skin-related symptoms, skincare practices and participants’ perceptions regarding the influence of lifestyle on skin health. Among the respondents, the largest age group was 21–23 years (42.1%), followed by 18–20 years (29.4%) and 24–26 years (25.4%). Females constituted 65.1% of the respondents. Regarding lifestyle factors, 42.9% reported sleeping 5–6 hours per night, while 50.0% rated their sleep quality as poor. Most participants consumed fast food or processed food 1–2 times per week (54.0%), and 50.8% reported drinking 1–2 litres of water per day. Stress, sleep and physical activity were among the lifestyle factors most frequently identified by participants as having the greatest impact on skin health. Overall, 73.0% of participants believed that their lifestyle habits affected their skin health. The findings indicate a perceived association between lifestyle practices and skin health and highlight the importance of considering lifestyle factors in maintaining healthy skin. However, due to the cross-sectional and self-reported nature of the study, causal relationships cannot be established.
