Patient-Specific Hemodynamic and Angiographic Evaluation of a Novel Flow-Diverting Device for Intracranial Aneurysms

Abstract
Objective
Flow-diverting devices treat intracranial aneurysms by modifying blood exchange between the parent artery and aneurysm. We quantified local flow changes after implantation using patient-specific Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Methods
Three patients were evaluated: two treated with a flow-diverting device alone and one with adjunctive coiling. Patient-specific vascular models were reconstructed from clinical images. Devices and coils were virtually deployed, and steady-state CFD with explicit device geometry compared untreated and treated conditions. Findings were descriptively compared with immediate and 12-month angiography.
