Mapping the neural basis of the perception of "flow of time": interval timing and mental time travel in the human brain
By Ochi R and Kawamura M.
Abstract
Although neurodegenerative diseases and brain injuries have been reported to impair the perception of "the flow of time," the underlying neural mechanisms remain uncertain. We examined symptoms related to interval timing and mental time travel, two neuropsychological phenomena associated with the perception of the flow of time that have been relatively well characterized. In addition, we reviewed the current evidence and proposed a potential underlying brain mechanism.
