Abstract
Background
Dengue vaccination is a promising preventive strategy. Peru introduced the TAK-003 vaccine in November 2024 for children aged 10-16 years and expanded it in January 2026 to individuals aged 10-20 years and selected priority adult groups. This study evaluated perceptions and intention to receive the dengue vaccine among adults before this expansion.
Methods
We conducted an analytical cross-sectional study among adults living in Peruvian regions with medium or high dengue incidence. Participants completed a web-based questionnaire between 22 March and 13 April 2025 that assessed their perceptions of dengue vaccination and intention to receive the vaccine. To determine the associated factors, we estimated crude Prevalence Ratios (cPR) and adjusted Prevalence Ratios (aPR) with 95% Confidence Intervals (95% CI) using crude and multivariable Poisson regression models with robust variance.
