Abstract
Objective
Trauma in pregnancy is an important determinate of maternal/perinatal morbidity and mortality. The study purpose is to evaluate all pregnant trauma patients presenting to the state's primary trauma center to develop a better understanding of the influence of trauma on pregnancy and identify improvement areas in maternal/perinatal outcomes.
Methods
This is a retrospective study of all pregnant women who presented with documented trauma and on whom we had delivery information on mother and neonate from January 2015 through December 2022. Demographic and clinical characteristics, type of trauma, trauma-related outcomes, disposition, and mode of delivery were collected. Results are reported as odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), and statistical significance was defined as p-value less than 0.05.
