Real-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring Use and Kidney Function Among People With Diabetes and CKD or At-Risk for CKD
By Hannah KL, Chen C, Castle JR and 2 others.
Abstract
Introduction
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) use may benefit people with diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD). In this propensity-matched, retrospective analysis using Truveta-provided de-identified EMR data, changes in kidney function and glycemia were compared between cohorts starting real-time CGM (RT-CGM) use and CGM non-users (No CGM).
Methods
Adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, treated with any insulin, with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of 15-89 mL/min/1.73 m2 were included. Changes in eGFR, albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR), and HbA1c between baseline and 3-year follow-up were assessed.
