Transition of the insertion of nurse midwives in the delivery room of a teaching hospital
By Oliveira TR and Alves VH.
Abstract
Objectives
to understand the transition of the insertion of nurse midwives in the delivery room based on the Apice On Project in a teaching hospital.
Methods
a mixed-method study - Embedded Concurrent Design. Qualitative data were collected from 18 professionals from a maternity hospital in the city of Rio de Janeiro through semi-structured interviews and submitted to content analysis. Quantitative data were extracted from the obstetric indicators logbook and processed using descriptive statistical analysis.
Results
the correlation of data indicated determining factors for the performance of specialists: institutional profile, deficiencies in communication flows regarding the Apice On guidelines, and limitations of residency programs in articulating principles of interprofessional education for collaborative practice in obstetrics. Final considerations: experiencing processes of organizational transition in care models requires horizontal communication, awareness, professional engagement, and role definition to overcome institutional barriers.
