Abstract
Abstract Background: Antidepressants of different classes are broadly comparable in antidepressant efficacy, so the choice between them increasingly rests on their physical health consequences. Head-to-head data comparing a tricyclic antidepressant, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and a serotonin–noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor across a broad panel of metabolic, hepatic, renal, electrolyte and thyroid measures in the same Indian clinical setting remain scarce.
