Abstract
Stand-alone nutrition interventions often lose their leverage when household financial planning capacity is left unaddressed. This Community Partnership Empowerment Program partnered with the Ceria Youth Posyandu in Siantan Hulu Village, North Pontianak, to address that separation. A pre-survey of 60 partner members found that 53.3% had never prepared a budget or saved money, and 86.6% did not understand nutrition during the First 1,000 Days of Life, accompanied by the perception that nutritious food is always expensive. The gap this program fills is the absence of economic and nutritional interventions integrated into a single empowerment package for adolescents, since prior community service programs have treated the two as separate agendas. The program aimed to build adolescent capacity to manage budgets, produce productive digital content, and compose locally sourced balanced menus. The MAPAN training applied Participatory Rural Appraisal and Experiential Learning through three interconnected training series, with success measured across four domains, namely cognitive, psychomotor, behavioral change, and affective. Among 60 participants, the combined comprehension score rose from 50.4 to 86.9 with a Normalized Gain of 0.735 in the high category, and 84.4% surpassed the minimum mastery criterion of 80. All three practical skill assessments were achieved, five weeks of observation recorded that most participants sustained the practices independently, and five MAPAN Ambassador cadres were formed to secure continuity. These findings affirm that financial literacy deserves positioning as an entry point for nutrition intervention among adolescents.
