Abstract
Background
Zoonotic diseases are infections transmitted between animals and humans and represent an important public health concern, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers serve as a vital link between communities and the healthcare system. Their awareness of zoonotic diseases, modes of transmission, risk factors, preventive measures, and appropriate referral practices is therefore important for strengthening community-level prevention and control.
Methods
We used a semi-structured questionnaire to assess ASHA workers' knowledge and awareness of zoonotic diseases. We conducted a pre-test and a post-test to assess the effectiveness of the awareness programme.
