Abstract
Background
Discharge planning is an important part of nursing care to prepare patients and families for continuing care after hospitalization. The nurse educator role may help patients understand medication, diet, treatment, and follow-up visits. This study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses’ educator role in discharge planning and inpatient compliance with follow-up control at Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital, Medan.
Methods
This observational analytical study used a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 75 patients from inpatient Room 7 West selected through purposive sampling. Data on the educator role were collected using a questionnaire, while follow-up compliance was obtained from medical records. Univariate analysis was conducted using frequency distributions and bivariate analysis using the Pearson Chi-square test at α = 0.05.
