Abstract
Introduction
Malaria during pregnancy remains an important cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity in Mali. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy with sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (IPTp-SP), with at least three doses. This study describes IPTp-SP coverage in Mali using data from the 2023–2024 Mali Demographic and Health Survey (EDSM-VII).
Methods
A descriptive analysis of aggregated EDSM-VII data was conducted among women aged 15–49 years who had a live birth or stillbirth in the two years preceding the survey. Coverage was defined as the proportion of women who received at least three doses of SP during their most recent pregnancy. Results were examined according to sociodemographic, economic, and geographic characteristics.
