Abstract
Introduction
Early detection and prompt specialized multidisciplinary care is crucial for soft tissue sarcoma patients. Yet, unplanned excisions without appropriate diagnostic workup, biopsy & staging are not uncommon. Data from Nepal regarding outcomes and management of STS are limited. This study aims to fill this lacuna by evaluating the impact of unplanned excisions on treatment outcomes.
Methods
A retrospective study was conducted on patients with STS treated at Nepal Cancer Hospital between January 2016 and January 2021. Patients were categorized into planned surgery and unplanned excision groups. Clinico-radiological, pathological and treatment-related variables were compared between the groups.
