Abstract
Introduction
Pregnancy is linked with profound hormonal, metabolic, and immunological alterations that significantly affect the skin. These changes can manifest as physiological cutaneous variations, pregnancy-specific dermatoses, or aggravation of pre-existing skin disorders. While most are benign, some pathological conditions can cause marked discomfort and may pose risks to fetal well-being. This study aimed to assess the clinical spectrum of dermatological manifestations during pregnancy in women attending a tertiary care hospital in Nepal.
Methods
A single-center cross-sectional study was conducted over 1 year among 240 pregnant women visiting the Nepal Medical College Teaching Hospital. Information was gathered using a pre-designed pro forma that included history, physical examination, and appropriate investigations. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26, where descriptive statistics, chi-square, and Fisher’s exact tests were carried out. A p-value of <0.05 was considered significant.
