Abstract
Background
Dyspareunia is characterized by pain associated with sexual intercourse and may negatively affect women's quality of life and sexual function. Among conservative approaches, pelvic floor physical therapy stands out, particularly pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) associated with biofeedback.
Purpose
To analyze scientific evidence regarding the effects of biofeedback associated with PFMT on pain reduction and improvement of sexual function in women with dyspareunia.
Methods
This is an integrative literature review based on searches conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, and PEDro. Descriptors related to dyspareunia, biofeedback, pelvic floor, pelvic floor muscle training, and sexual function were combined using the Boolean operators AND and OR. Studies published between 2021 and 2026 were considered and, after applying the eligibility criteria, 20 studies comprised the final synthesis.
