Abstract
Cervical cancer is a health issue contributing to morbidity and mortality among women worldwide. Data from Siloam Semanggi Cancer Hospital indicates that 170 new cases of cervical cancer underwent treatment at the facility in 2022. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge, economic status, and attitudes and the occurrence of cervical cancer at Siloam Semanggi Cancer Hospital, South Jakarta, in 2022. A quantitative method was employed, with a sample size of 35 respondents drawn from a population of 170, determined using Slovin's formula. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, including the chi-square test. The results revealed a relationship between knowledge and the stage of cervical cancer (p-value = 0.020; odds ratio [OR] = 20.000). A relationship was also found between economic status and the stage of cervical cancer (p-value = 0.000; OR = 5.492), as well as between attitudes and the stage of cervical cancer (p-value = 0.003; OR = 9.33). These findings indicate a relationship between the three studied variables and the stage of cervical cancer among the respondents. Knowledge emerged as the variable with the highest OR compared to economic status and attitudes. Therefore, increasing women's knowledge regarding cervical cancer is expected to foster greater awareness of early detection and prevention.
