Abstract
Objective
To develop a standardized, evidence-based clinical management protocol for cervical cancer in Kenya through adaptation and contextualization of relevant international clinical practice guidelines.
Methods
The protocol was developed using a guideline adaptation approach to align recommendations from international clinical practice guidelines with the Kenyan healthcare and resource context. A multidisciplinary development group comprising gynecologic oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, oncology nurses, pharmacists, radiation oncologists, public health specialists, and patient representatives participated in the process. Relevant guidelines were identified through searches of PubMed and Google Scholar and independently appraised using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II) instrument. Selected guidelines were reviewed and their recommendations adapted and contextualized to the Kenyan setting.
