Abstract
Background: The Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) is an intensive care unit for patients with heart disorders who require close monitoring. The ICCU environment often causes sleep disturbances in patients due to the noise of medical equipment and excessive lighting. Sleep disturbances can worsen health conditions, increase stress, and slow the patient's recovery process. One nonpharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce environmental disturbances is the use of earplugs and eye masks. These two devices function to reduce exposure to sound and light, thereby helping to create a more comfortable environment for rest.Aims: This study aims to determine the effect of earplug and eye mask use on improving sleep quality in patients with heart monitors in the ICCU ward of Dr. M. Yunus Regional General Hospital, Bengkulu City in 2025.Methods: This study utilized a quantitative quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 92 respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Sleep quality was measured before and after the intervention using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.
