By Bo-Hong Yin, Xiaonan Wei, Xu Liu and 2 others.
Abstract
BACKGROUND Bariatric surgery is often followed by improvement in anxiety and depressive symptoms, but it remains uncertain whether specific procedures differ in long-term psychological outcomes. This systematic review and network meta-analysis compared sleeve gastrectomy (SG), conventional Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB), and silastic-ring RYGB (SR-RYGB), while distinguishing screening-positive symptom outcomes from formal psychiatric diagnoses. AIMTo compare clinically relevant anxiety and depression outcomes across SG, conventional RYGB, LAGB, and SR-RYGB, using randomized trials for the primary network meta-analysis and non-randomized comparative studies as qualitative adjunctive evidence.
