By Pamella Cristina de Carvalho Lucas and Yeda Aparecida de Oliveira Duarte.
Abstract
Objective
To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with post-COVID-19 conditions in older residents of São Paulo. Methodology: This epidemiological study used logistic regression to assess factors associated with post-COVID-19 conditions.
Results
The prevalence of post-COVID-19 conditions in older adults was 17.6%, and the factors associated with this condition were prior hospitalization for COVID-19 (odds ratio, 3.78) and dependence in activities of daily living (odds ratio, 3.67).
Conclusions
Dependence in activities of daily living and hospitalization due to COVID-19 were associated with post-COVID-19 conditions in older adults. Public health strategies should be prioritized to focus on protecting the most vulnerable groups.
