By Daniel Oluwaseyi Adeyemi.
Abstract
This master's dissertation examines the roles of statins in managing dyslipidaemia and reducing cardiovascular disease risks in patients with hypertension. The study adopted a systematic literature review approach to examine evidence concerning the effects of statins on lipid profiles, blood pressure, cardiovascular outcomes, and adverse events among patients with hypertension. The literature search covered electronic databases and sources including Google Scholar, Cochrane, ProQuest, PubMed, PubMed Central, and ScienceDirect. The review screened 175 studies and included eight studies for analysis. The dissertation discusses the potential contributions of statin therapy to lipid management and cardiovascular risk reduction in people with hypertension, alongside considerations relating to adverse effects.
