Psychological Fusion of the Psychiatrist and the Digital Avatar: The Possible Formation of a Digital Phantom
By Alexander Tschausovsky.
Abstract
Abstract This article presents a psychiatrist’s perspective on the integration of artificial intelligence into psychiatric communication and psychoeducation, based on one year of practical experimentation with digital human representations. A central contribution is the proposed distinction between two forms of the physician’s digital twin: Digital Twin Record, a prerecorded audiovisual representation delivering fixed content, and Digital Twin Live, an interactive AI-based representation capable of responding to users in real time. The article explores the relationship between classical concepts of nervous regulation, hypnosis, therapeutic suggestion, and emerging AI technologies. It discusses the potential of personalized digital representations to support stress reduction, emotional regulation, and brief psychoeducational interventions. Particular attention is given to the physician’s professional identity, the psychological perception of digital avatars, and the importance of distinguishing recorded communication from interactive AI systems. The article emphasizes that digital twins should complement, rather than replace, professional psychiatric assessment and treatment, particularly in cases of severe mental illness. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Psychiatry, Digital Twin Record, Digital Twin Live, Psychoeducation, Hypnosis, Digital Avatars, Therapeutic Communication.
