Abstract
Breast cancer is the most frequent malignancy in women worldwide, and a delay of 3–6 months between first symptoms and treatment is associated with poorer survival [1, 2]. The total delay consists of a patient interval, a diagnostic interval and an interval to treatment [3], each with its own causes and levers. In Uzbekistan cancer care follows a single national model, so a comparison of the capital with a province under identical rules attributes any difference to organisational and social factors rather than to treatment standards; such quantitative comparisons for Central Asia are lacking.
