Abstract
Background
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with an increasing prevalence in Indonesia. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI), the prevalence of diabetes mellitus among adults increased from 10.9% in 2018 to 11.7% in 2023. In Lampung Province, the prevalence among individuals aged ≥15 years is 1.4%. Limited knowledge of diabetes management contributes to poor blood glucose control and increases the risk of complications. Therefore, effective health education is needed to improve patients' knowledge.
Objective
This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using poster media on diabetes mellitus management knowledge among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods
A quantitative pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted among 14 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Participants received health education using poster media for three consecutive days. Knowledge was assessed before and after the intervention using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05.
