Abstract
Around 10% of newborns require assistance at birth and fewer than 1% need advanced manoeuvres. The study therefore aimed to synthesise the evidence and current international recommendations on neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the delivery room, with emphasis on interventions relevant to obstetric practice. A narrative review was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar from 2020 to 2025, with a sample of 12 studies out of 72 records. Positive pressure ventilation is the most effective intervention, heart rate is the main indicator of response, chest compressions and adrenaline are exceptionally required, and thermal control, oxygen titration and simulation improve outcomes. It was concluded that neonatal resuscitation is an essential competence of the obstetric team.
