Abstract
Dermatitis herpetiformis is a chronic bullous disease considered a cutaneous manifestation of celiac disease, although in some cases it may present with skin involvement alone. Its pathogenesis involves a combination of genetic, immune- mediated, and environmental factors (gluten exposure). We present the clinical case of a female patient with a long-standing disseminated pruritic dermatosis, in whom a diagnosis of dermatitis herpetiformis was established through laboratory testing and histological evaluation. A comprehensive review was conducted on the features of this uncommon entity in pediatric populations, its diagnosis via histology and direct immunofluorescence, its clinical associations, treatment, and follow-up.
