Abstract
E-cigarette smoking (vaping) behavior among adolescents is a new phenomenon in the field of public health that continues to increase around the world. E-cigarettes or vapes are gaining popularity among teenagers due to the misconception that they are safer than conventional cigarettes, despite having similar or even higher health risks The purpose of the study was to influence peers against e-cigarette behavior among students of Madrasah Aliyah in Jambi City. E-cigarettes or vapes are increeeasingly popular among teenagers due to the misconception that they are safer than conventional cigarettes, despite having similar or even higher health risks. This research method uses this quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The research population is Madrasah Aliyah School in Jambi City. Research Samples. The research sample of 167 students was randomly taken from 15 Madrasah Aliyah schools in the city of Jambi. The method of sampling is with Convenience Sampling where samples are provided by the school available at the time of research. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire given to the Respondent. The analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test), and multivariate binary logistic regression. Revealed a significant history of conventional smoking (p=0.014; OR = 0.118), indicating that students' conventional smoking histories were less likely to use e-cigarettes than those without such a history. The history of conventional smokers appears to play a protective role in shaping e-cigarette behavior among MA students in Jambi City, an unexpected finding that warrants further verification.
