Abstract
Background
Acute abdomen is a common surgical emergency requiring rapid assessment, timely diagnosis, and prompt surgical intervention to minimize the risk of complications. Delays in triage, diagnostic evaluation, and surgical decision-making may increase the risk of postoperative morbidity and prolong hospitalization. A standardized nursing triage protocol may facilitate early identification of high-risk patients, prioritize urgent cases, and promote timely communication with the surgical team.
Aim
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of a standardized nursing triage protocol for acute abdomen on decreasing time-to-surgery and postoperative complications.
