Abstract
Objective
The current study investigated whether different small-sided game (SSG) pitch areas alter the spatial distribution, internal training load, or tactical-technical actions on the pitch of under-11 soccer players.
Methods
The sample consisted of 18 male under-11 soccer players, randomized into 9 SSG groups, 3 vs. 3, who played without a goalkeeper, on SSGsmall (12 x 28 m), SSGmedium (18 x 24 m), and SSGlarge (24 x 30 m) pitch areas. The percentage of total pitch area occupancy, action area per player, peak (HRpeak) and mean (HRmean) heart rate, Edward´s training impulse (TRIMP), tactical-technical actions, and game performance were evaluated.
