Mapping Clinical Manifestations of Arthrogenic Muscle Inhibition to Neurophysiologic Mechanisms Following Knee Injury: A Scoping Review
By Joe M. Hart, Troy Blackburn, Christopher D. Ingersoll and 6 others.
Abstract
Background
Arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) following knee injury is difficult to measure feasibly, necessitating alternative approaches. Given its multifactorial nature, an improved understanding of how AMI manifests clinically and aligns with established mechanisms of muscle dysfunction is required.
Purpose
This review aimed to a) identify AMI manifestations, b) map AMI manifestations to mechanistic pathways, c) characterize knowledge gaps regarding AMI identification.
Design
Scoping review.
