Clinical assessment of musculoskeletal health as a multidimensional profile: A Narrative Review with a functional focus on sarcopenia, obesity, and GLP-1-Based Therapies
By Roberto Coronado‐Zarco and Karla Zarco Ordoñez.
Abstract
This registration describes a planned narrative review of clinical musculoskeletal health as a multidimensional profile with an emphasis on physical function. It will integrate literature on muscle quality and composition, strength and power, physical performance, bone health, join symptoms, falls, nutrition and participation in daily life. The review will focus on sarcopenia, obesity and the interpretation of changes in lean mass and function during weight loss, including treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist and other incretin-based therapies. Structured searches are planned in PubMed, CINHAL via EBSCOhost, and Scopus, supplemented by consensus statements, clinical guidelines and citation searching. Evidence from clinical studies, systematic reviews, methodological studies and selected mechanistic research will be interpreted according to study design, limitations and applicability. The review will develop a proposed tiered clinical assessment framework and identify properties for future validation. This is a narrative review, not a systematic review, meta-analysis, validated diagnostic instrument or clinical practice guideline. Search strategies will be piloted and refined, with changes documented.
