KAPP-Sen TMC: Kidney core needle biopsy samples preparation v2
By Hatem Amer, Sonja Suvakov, Bridget A. Schley and 5 others.
Abstract
This protocol describes the standardized workflow for human kidney core needle biopsy, covering from patient selection through sample preparation. Each biopsy is performed as an ultrasound‑ or CT‑guided percutaneous procedure using a core needle device to obtain renal cortical tissue. Immediately after acquisition, tissue cores are allocated into diagnostic and research portions following the established distribution scheme. Samples designated for pathology are fixed in 10% neutral‑buffered formalin, processed, and embedded into FFPE blocks. FFPE blocks are sectioned to produce 4 µm slides for hematoxylin‑and‑eosin (H&E) staining and additional sections and curls for molecular assays.
