Abstract
The aim of this study was to identify anthropometric predictors of early OSA resolution after bariatric surgery (BS). Patients with OSA treated with APAP for at least one month before BS underwent anthropometric assessments and home polygraphy at baseline and 2 (and 6) months postoperatively. Among 18 patients, all anthropometric measures improved significantly, while OSA resolution increased from 56% at 2 months to 82% at 6 months. Early OSA resolution was associated with a preoperative waist circumference < 120 cm ( p < 0.05). Visceral adiposity may predict OSA persistence better than BMI, but larger studies are needed to confirm these findings.
