Abstract
Introduction
Managing elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is complex due to comorbidities, hypoglycemia risk, polypharmacy, renal issues, and costs. This survey evaluated Indian healthcare professionals’ (HCPs) perceptions regarding the clinical usefulness of the glipizide + metformin fixed-dose combination (FDC) for elderly patients with T2DM.
Methods
This cross-sectional, questionnaire-based survey was conducted to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of Indian HCPs supplemented by expert insights from focus group discussions (FGDs) concerning the clinical utility of this FDC for elderly patients with T2DM. Data were collected using a structured, self-administered questionnaire developed from a comprehensive literature review on the efficacy, safety, clinical utility, and prescribing patterns of the FDC.
