Résumé
Objective
To evaluate the efficacy of intra-articular orthobiologics versus standard active control (arthrocentesis or hyaluronic acid) on pain, mouth opening and structural bone gain in advanced degenerative temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease, stratified by orthobiologic class and joint compartment.
Design
Systematic review with exploratory meta-analysis, following PRISMA and prospectively registered on PROSPERO (CRD420261425634), of RCTs published January 2020-June 2026. Outcomes were pooled as mean difference (MD) by orthobiologic class, with joint compartment as a three-level moderator. Clinical relevance was assessed against minimal important difference (MCID) thresholds; non-randomised studies were synthesised narratively.
